RAINPOINT ITV517P | 1-Zone - Common Issues & Fixes

If the ITV517P water timer does not operate as expected during setup or regular use, the troubleshooting information below can help identify possible causes and recommended solutions.

Situation 1: Water leaks from the inlet or outlet connection

Possible causes

  • The inlet filter is missing or not installed correctly
  • The faucet or hose connection is loose
  • The threads are misaligned during installation
  • The connection is not properly sealed

What to do

  • Check that the inlet filter is installed correctly
  • Remove the timer, realign the threads, and reinstall it carefully
  • Make sure the faucet and hose connections are properly secured
  • Apply Teflon tape to the faucet threads if needed
  • Tighten all connections by hand only and do not use tools

The ITV517P manual specifically instructs that the threads should be properly aligned and the timer should be installed by hand only.

Situation 2: Water does not flow or the valve does not close properly

Possible causes

  • The internal valve may be inactive before first use or after a period of inactivity
  • Dirt or debris may be blocking the inlet filter or valve
  • The timer may need to be activated before normal operation

What to do

  • Turn off the faucet before initial activation
  • Use Manual Watering to open the valve
  • Allow the valve to open and close several times
  • Repeat the activation process if necessary
  • Check and clean the inlet filter if dirt or debris is present
  • Turn the faucet on slightly and test the timer again

The manual recommends activating the valve before first use and after a period of inactivity.

Situation 3: A programmed watering plan does not start

Possible causes

  • The affected Plan 1, Plan 2, or Plan 3 is not programmed correctly
  • The Start Time or watering duration is incorrect
  • The watering frequency has not been set correctly
  • The timer is set to OFF
  • Rain Delay is currently active

What to do

  • Check the affected Plan separately
  • Confirm its Start Time, How Long, and How Often settings
  • Make sure the timer is set to ON
  • Check whether Rain Delay is active
  • Review the other plans if more than one watering schedule has been programmed

Each of the three watering plans can be programmed independently, so the settings for the affected plan should be checked individually.

Situation 4: Watering frequency does not work as expected

Possible causes

  • The wrong frequency mode was selected
  • Every Mode and Weekday Mode were confused during setup
  • The required watering interval or weekday was not selected correctly

What to do

  • Check the How Often setting for the affected plan
  • For interval watering, confirm the required setting in Every Mode
  • For specific watering days, confirm the selected days in Weekday Mode
  • Reprogram the affected plan if the frequency does not match the intended schedule

The ITV517P supports both Every Mode and Weekday Mode, so the selected mode should be checked when watering occurs on unexpected days or intervals.

Situation 5: Rain Delay does not work as expected

Possible causes

  • The Rain Delay setting was not completed correctly
  • The selected delay period was not confirmed
  • Rain Delay is already active

What to do

  • Enter the Rain Delay setting
  • Select the required delay period: 24, 48, or 72 hours
  • Confirm the setting
  • Check the display to make sure Rain Delay is active
  • Set the delay back to 0 hours when Rain Delay needs to be canceled

The ITV517P supports Rain Delay settings of 0, 24, 48, or 72 hours.

Situation 6: The LCD screen is blank or the timer is unresponsive

Possible causes

  • The batteries are depleted or installed incorrectly
  • Old and new batteries are being used together
  • An unsuitable battery type is installed
  • The battery tray is not properly secured

What to do

  • Replace the batteries with 2 new AAA alkaline batteries
  • Check the battery polarity
  • Do not mix old and new batteries
  • Do not use carbon-zinc or rechargeable batteries
  • Reinstall the battery tray securely and check the display again

The ITV517P requires 2 AAA alkaline batteries.
