Cleaning the Inlet Filter
The inlet filter helps keep dirt and debris from entering the timer and restricting normal water flow.
How to clean the filter:
- Turn off the faucet and disconnect the timer.
- Remove the inlet filter from the water inlet.
- Rinse the filter thoroughly with clean running water.
- Reinstall the filter correctly before reconnecting the timer.
Maintenance tip:
Inspect and clean the filter regularly, especially when sediment is present in the water supply or when water flow becomes weaker.
Winter Storage
The ITV517P should not be used in freezing conditions.
- Remove the timer when temperatures fall below 37.4°F (3°C).
- Drain any remaining water from the timer.
- Store the timer indoors in a dry location.
- Make sure the timer is completely dry before storage.
Exposure to freezing temperatures may damage the internal components.
Long-Term Storage
If the timer will not be used for an extended period:
- Remove the batteries before storage.
- Drain any remaining water from the timer.
- Store the timer indoors in a dry environment.
- Keep the timer away from direct sunlight and high humidity.
- Before using the timer again, install 2 new AAA alkaline batteries and make sure the battery tray is securely installed.
After a period of inactivity, the timer valve may need to be activated before normal operation. Use Manual Watering to open and close the valve several times until it operates normally.
General Care Tips
To help maintain proper operation:
- Tighten all connections by hand only and do not use tools.
- Align the threads carefully before tightening.
- Avoid overtightening, especially on versions with plastic inlet or outlet components.
- Use clean, cold water only.
- Keep the inlet filter clean and properly installed.
- Replace the batteries when the low-battery indicator appears.
- Keep the battery compartment dry when replacing batteries.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or heavy rain when possible.
The ITV517P manual specifically instructs that installation should be completed by hand only, with the threads properly aligned to help prevent damage and leakage.
