RAINPOINT TCS024B – Common Issues & Fixes

If the TCS024B does not connect or display soil information as expected, the information below outlines common operating conditions and recommended actions.

These conditions are usually related to battery status, phone distance, wireless connection, sensor placement, or surrounding soil conditions rather than product defects.

Condition 1: The TCS024B cannot connect to the app

Possible Causes

  • The phone is too far from the sensor.
  • The required wireless function on the phone is not enabled.
  • The TCS024B is not in pairing mode.

What to Do

  • Move the phone closer to the TCS024B.
  • Make sure the required wireless function is enabled on the phone.
  • Press and hold the sensor button for approximately 5 seconds.
  • Wait until the green LED flashes quickly.
  • Add the device again in the RainPoint-Tuya app.

Condition 2: Soil data appears inaccurate or incorrect

Possible Cause

Stones or other hard objects are close to the sensing area.

What to Do

  • Remove the sensor from the soil.
  • Check the surrounding soil.
  • Choose an area without stones around the probe.
  • Reinstall the sensor to the BEST position.
  • Take another real-time measurement.

The troubleshooting section specifically identifies stones around the sensor as a possible source of inaccurate data.

Condition 3: No reading appears in the app

Possible Cause

Battery power may be too low.

What to Do

  • Replace all batteries with new AAA alkaline batteries.
  • Reinstall the battery cover.
  • Reconnect the device if necessary.
  • Press the button to perform a new real-time measurement.

Condition 4: The sensor drains batteries quickly

Possible Factors

  • Poor-quality batteries
  • Defective batteries
  • Battery leakage

What to Do

  • Install a new set of reputable alkaline batteries.
  • Record the installation date if necessary.
  • Check for battery leakage.
  • Replace leaking batteries immediately.

The manual notes that reputable alkaline batteries can provide a battery life of over 24 months under suitable conditions.

Condition 5: The LED flashes red three times

This indicates low battery power.

When battery power is too low:

  • The device will not perform a new measurement.
  • The app displays a low-battery warning.

Replace the batteries.

Condition 6: The sensor does not automatically enter pairing mode

Reset the device.

Method 1

  1. Remove all batteries.
  2. Wait approximately 10 seconds.
  3. Install 3 fresh AAA alkaline batteries.
  4. Wait for the green LED to flash quickly.

Method 2

Press and hold the sensor button for approximately 5 seconds until the green LED flashes quickly.

Condition 7: The probe is difficult to insert into the soil

Do not force the probe into hard soil.

If the soil is hard:

  2. Insert the TCS024B into the prepared hole.
  3. Position the soil level at the BEST mark.
