This article provides routine maintenance and care guidance for the RAINPOINT HTP160FRF Wi-Fi Outdoor Solar Automatic Drip Irrigation Pump Kit.
Regular cleaning, correct pump placement, sufficient charging, and proper storage can help maintain reliable watering and smart-control performance.
Cleaning the Inlet Filter
The inlet filter helps prevent debris from entering the pump and irrigation tubing.
Check the filter periodically, especially when the pump is used with an outdoor water container.
To clean the filter:
- Stop watering using the RainPoint Home app or the Manual Watering Button.
- Remove the inlet filter from the water container.
- Rinse the filter thoroughly with clean water.
- Remove visible dirt or debris.
- Reconnect the filter firmly to the inlet tubing.
- Place the filter back into the water container.
- Make sure the filter is fully submerged.
- Run a short manual watering test and check the water flow.
If a watering schedule does not run correctly or the water flow becomes weaker, checking the inlet filter should be one of the first maintenance steps.
Winter Storage
The specified pump operating temperature is 37°F–122°F (3°C–50°C).
Do not operate the pump in freezing conditions.
Before winter storage, it is recommended to:
- Stop active watering.
- Remove the inlet tubing and filter from the water reservoir.
- Drain remaining water from the tubing and irrigation system.
- Clean the inlet filter.
- Allow the pump, tubing, fittings, and USB-C port to dry.
- Disconnect the Gateway from its power supply if the system will not be used.
- Store the pump, Gateway, and accessories in a clean, dry, frost-free location.
Long-Term Storage
If the HTP160FRF will not be used for an extended period:
- Remove the system from the water source.
- Drain residual water from the tubing.
- Clean and dry the inlet filter.
- Check tubing and fittings for dirt, blockage, or damage.
- Keep the USB-C charging port clean and dry.
- Clean the solar panel surface if necessary.
- Store the pump and accessories in a dry location.
- Keep the Gateway and its power connection dry.
- Before using the system again, charge the pump if necessary.
- Reconnect the system and perform a manual watering test before restoring regular schedules.
General Care Tips
Keep the inlet filter clean
Debris in the filter can reduce water flow and may affect scheduled watering.
Use clean cold water only
The HTP160FRF is designed for clean cold water.
Keep the solar panel exposed to sunlight
Avoid unnecessary shading for better daily solar charging performance.
Use USB-C charging when sunlight is insufficient
Use a 5V / 1A power source for USB-C charging.
Keep the USB-C port clean and dry
Do not connect the charging cable if moisture or debris is present.
Check tubing connections regularly
Make sure all tubing remains fully inserted and firmly connected to the IN and OUT ports.
Maintain correct pump placement
Keep the pump at or above the reservoir water level.
Keep the installation height within the recommended range
The maximum recommended height difference is 6.6 ft (2 m).
Maintain a stable Pump–Gateway connection
Keep the pump within the specified Gateway communication range.
Walls, metal objects, and dense plants may reduce communication distance.
Check the water level regularly
Low water at the inlet may prevent scheduled watering from running.
