If the HTP160FRF does not operate as expected during installation or everyday use, the information below outlines common situations and practical solutions.
These conditions are usually related to water supply, tubing installation, network conditions, pairing status, Gateway connection, or watering settings.
Condition 1: Water flow is uneven or weaker than expected
Possible Causes
- The pump is too far from the water source.
- The tubing is longer than necessary.
- Tubing connections are not installed correctly.
What to Do
- Move the pump closer to the water source where possible.
- Shorten unnecessary tubing.
- Check all tubing connections.
- Make sure the inlet filter is submerged.
- Keep the installation height difference within 6.6 ft (2 m).
Condition 2: Watering does not start
Possible Causes
- The water level at the inlet is too low.
- The inlet filter is no longer submerged.
- The pump has detected a low-water condition.
What to Do
- Check the water level in the reservoir.
- Refill the reservoir if necessary.
- Make sure the inlet filter is fully submerged.
- Check the Low Water Indicator.
When low water is detected, the Low Water Indicator flashes red. When water is detected again, the indicator turns off.
Condition 3: The pump cannot connect to the Gateway
Possible Causes
- The pump is not in pairing mode.
- The Pump–Gateway distance is too large.
- Walls, metal objects, or dense plants are reducing the RF signal.
What to Do
- Keep the pump close to the Gateway during pairing.
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi Setup Button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode.
- In the RainPoint Home app, open the Gateway and select:
Add Device → Add New Devices → HTP160FRF
- If necessary, delete the pump from the app and add it again.
- Reduce obstacles between the pump and Gateway.
Condition 4: The Gateway cannot connect to Wi-Fi
Possible Causes
- The network is not 2.4 GHz.
- The Wi-Fi password is incorrect.
- The Gateway is too far from the Wi-Fi router.
What to Do
- Confirm that a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network is being used.
- Re-enter the Wi-Fi password carefully.
- During setup, keep the Gateway and smartphone close to the Wi-Fi router.
- Confirm that the Wi-Fi router is operating normally.
Condition 5: A watering schedule does not run on time
Possible Causes
- The inlet filter is clogged.
- Rain Delay is enabled.
- There is insufficient water at the inlet.
What to Do
- Clean the inlet filter.
- Check the Rain Delay setting in the RainPoint Home app.
- Check the water level in the reservoir.
- Check the next scheduled watering time displayed on the pump page.
Condition 6: The Gateway is disconnected or offline
What to Do
- Check whether the Wi-Fi router is operating normally.
- If there was a power outage, make sure the router has restarted properly.
- Check the Wi-Fi signal strength.
- Move the Gateway closer to the router if necessary.
- Reconnect the Gateway in the RainPoint Home app if required.
Condition 7: Tubing is difficult to insert or remove
The tubing material is designed to be relatively firm for durability.
What to Do
- Soak the tubing end in hot water for about 10 seconds, or
- Apply a small amount of vegetable oil to the tubing end before connecting it.
Condition 8: The Gateway button is unresponsive
If the Gateway button does not respond after normal power and connection checks, contact RAINPOINT Support for further assistance.
