This article provides routine maintenance and care guidance for the RAINPOINT IK160 Outdoor Solar Automatic Drip Irrigation Pump Kit.
Proper cleaning, installation, charging, and storage help maintain reliable water flow and reduce common operating conditions caused by blocked tubing, debris, improper placement, or insufficient charging.
Cleaning the Inlet Filter
The inlet filter helps prevent impurities from entering the pump and irrigation tubing.
Check and clean the filter periodically, especially when the pump is used with an outdoor water container.
To clean the filter:
- Stop watering by turning the HOW LONG knob to OFF.
- Remove the inlet filter from the water container.
- Disconnect the filter if necessary.
- Rinse the filter thoroughly with clean water.
- Remove visible dirt or debris.
- Reconnect the filter firmly to the inlet tubing.
- Place the filter back into the water container and make sure it remains properly submerged.
If water flow becomes noticeably weaker, checking the filter should be one of the first maintenance steps.
Winter Storage
The IK160 has a specified operating temperature of 37–122°F (3–50°C).
Do not operate the system in freezing conditions.
Before winter storage:
- Turn the HOW LONG knob to OFF.
- Remove the inlet filter and tubing from the water container.
- Drain remaining water from the tubing and irrigation system.
- Clean the inlet filter.
- Allow the pump, tubing connections, and accessories to dry.
- Store the pump in a clean, dry location protected from freezing temperatures.
- Keep the USB-C charging port clean and dry.
Long-Term Storage
If the IK160 will not be used for an extended period:
- Set HOW LONG to OFF.
- Remove the system from the water source.
- Drain residual water from the tubing.
- Clean and dry the inlet filter.
- Check the tubing and fittings for dirt, damage, or loose connections.
- Keep the USB-C charging port clean and dry.
- Store the pump and accessories in a clean, dry location.
- Before using the system again, charge the pump if necessary and perform a ONE TIME watering test.
General Care Tips
Keep the solar panel clear.
Position the solar panel where it can receive direct sunlight and remove dirt or objects that may block sunlight.
Use clean cold water.
Avoid using water containing excessive dirt or debris.
Keep the inlet filter installed.
The filter helps protect the pump and tubing system from impurities.
Check tubing connections regularly.
Tubing should remain fully inserted into the IN and OUT ports.
Avoid unnecessary tubing length.
Excessively long tubing can reduce water flow and increase the watering load.
Keep the pump correctly positioned.
The pump should remain at or above the reservoir water level.
Keep within the recommended height difference.
The installation height difference should not exceed 6.6 ft (2 m).
Keep the USB-C port clean and dry.
Do not connect the charging cable if moisture or debris is present.
