Q1. Does the HCS048B require the RainPoint Home app?
A. Basic measurements can be viewed directly on the HCS048B display. Connecting to RainPoint Home is required to access or properly support features such as time synchronization, water usage reports, water cost settings, Flow Calibration, Tank Capacity, charts, and Event records.
Q2. Does the HCS048B require a Gateway?
A. No Gateway is described in the current HCS048B manual. The device connects wirelessly with the phone and RainPoint Home app.
Q3. What measurement modes are available?
A. The HCS048B provides five display modes: TODAY, TOTAL 1, TOTAL 2, LAST, and FLOW RATE.
Q4. What is the difference between TOTAL 1 and TOTAL 2?
A. TOTAL 1 and TOTAL 2 are independent accumulated water usage records. Clearing one does not clear the other.
Q5. How do I clear TOTAL 1 or TOTAL 2?
A. Open the desired TOTAL page and press and hold the MENU button for approximately 2 seconds.
Q6. What does LAST mean?
A. LAST displays the most recently recorded water usage. Water-flow changes within 30 seconds may be treated as part of the same record.
Q7. How do I switch between liters and gallons?
A. Go to the FLOW RATE page and press and hold MENU. The units switch between L/Min and L, or GAL/Min and GAL.
Q8. Can I flip the screen?
A. Yes. Press the Direction Button to flip the screen orientation. This helps make the display easier to read when the meter is installed in a reverse or inverted viewing position.
Q9. Does flipping the screen also change the water-flow direction?
A. No. Screen orientation only changes how the display is viewed. Water must still enter through the correct inlet side.
Q10. What is the wireless range?
A. The specification lists up to 230 ft (70 m) between the phone and water flow meter.
Q11. What can I see in RainPoint Home?
A. The app can display Real-Time Flow Rate, Last Water Usage, Last Duration, Total 1 Water Usage, Total 2 Water Usage, Total Today, Total Water Usage, Hour/Day/Month charts, and device online/offline and usage events.
Q12. What is Tank Capacity?
A. Tank Capacity allows a water reservoir capacity to be entered in the app. The setting range is 1–99,999 L or 1–26,416 gal. As water is used, the remaining capacity decreases accordingly.
Q13. What does the low-battery icon mean?
A. Replace the batteries with 3 new AAA alkaline batteries.
