RAINPOINT IK15P – Maintenance & Care

This article provides routine maintenance and care guidance for the RAINPOINT IK15P Outdoor Solar Irrigation System.

Regular solar panel cleaning, filter inspection, correct water detector placement, and proper storage can help maintain reliable charging and watering performance.

Cleaning the Inlet Filter

The included water filter helps reduce impurities entering the irrigation system.

Periodically inspect the filter, especially when using an outdoor water container.

If visible debris is present:

1. Stop watering.
2. Remove the filter from the reservoir.
3. Rinse away visible dirt with clean water.
4. Check the inlet tubing.
5. Reinstall the filter.
6. Make sure the filter is correctly positioned inside the reservoir.

The water level detector should remain positioned higher than the filter, with both hanging downward.

Solar Panel Care

The manual specifically recommends cleaning the solar panel regularly.

Keep the panel free from:

• Leaves
• Dirt
• Bird droppings
• Other objects that block sunlight

Place the panel in a sunny, shadow-free location.

Solar charging efficiency depends on sunlight intensity, so slower charging during cloudy or rainy conditions can be normal.

Winter Storage

The IK15P manual does not provide a dedicated winterization procedure.

However, its warning section states that the product should not be used below approximately 3°C (37.4°F).

Before freezing conditions:

• Stop automatic watering.
• Turn the dial to OFF.
• Remove the system from freezing outdoor conditions.
• Drain exposed irrigation tubing where necessary.
• Clean and dry the filter and accessories.
• Store the pump in a dry, protected location.

Long-Term Storage

If the IK15P will not be used for an extended period:

• Turn the dial to OFF.
• Remove the filter and detector from the reservoir.
• Drain remaining water from the irrigation tubing.
• Clean the solar panel.
• Keep the pump dry.
• Protect the product from impact or extreme temperatures.
• Before reuse, inspect the tubing and connections.
• Charge the pump if necessary.
• Run a manual watering test before restoring automatic schedules.

General Care Tips

Keep the solar panel clean

Dirt or shading can reduce charging efficiency.

Use a sheltered outdoor installation when possible

The manual recommends sheltered outdoor use to help extend product life.

Do not immerse the pump

The IK15P is rated IPX4 and is designed for rain and splash resistance, not submersion.

Protect the device from impact

Avoid strong shocks or excessive force.

Keep the water detector correctly positioned

The detector should remain above the filter and hang vertically in the water reservoir.

Check the anti-siphon valve

Make sure the valve remains installed in the correct flow direction.

Keep the filter clear

Debris can restrict water entering the irrigation system.
