RAINPOINT HTP159W – Maintenance & Care

This article provides routine maintenance and care guidance for the RAINPOINT HTP159W Wi-Fi Automatic Indoor Watering Pump Kit.

Regular cleaning, correct pump placement, proper charging, and stable Wi-Fi conditions can help maintain reliable watering and smart-control performance.

Cleaning the Inlet Filter

The inlet filter helps prevent impurities from entering the pump and irrigation tubing.

Check and clean the filter periodically, especially if the water flow becomes weaker or a watering schedule does not run as expected.

To clean the filter:

  1. Stop watering.
  2. Remove the inlet filter from the water container.
  3. Disconnect the filter if necessary.
  4. Rinse the filter thoroughly with clean water.
  5. Remove visible dirt or debris.
  6. Reconnect the filter firmly to the inlet tubing.
  7. Place the filter back into the water container.
  8. Make sure the filter is fully submerged.
  9. Run a short manual watering test and check the water flow.

Winter Storage

The specified operating temperature of the HTP159W is:

37°F–122°F (3°C–50°C)

If the irrigation system will not be used for an extended period during cold weather:

  1. Stop active watering schedules.
  2. Slide the Power Switch to OFF.
  3. Remove the inlet filter and tubing from the water container.
  4. Drain remaining water from the tubing.
  5. Clean the inlet filter.
  6. Allow the pump, tubing, and fittings to dry.
  7. Store the pump and accessories in a clean, dry indoor location.

Long-Term Storage

If the HTP159W will not be used for an extended period:

  • Stop active watering schedules.
  • Slide the Power Switch to OFF.
  • Remove the system from the water source.
  • Drain remaining water from the tubing.
  • Clean and dry the inlet filter.
  • Check tubing and fittings for dirt or blockage.
  • Keep the USB-C charging port clean and dry.
  • Store the pump and accessories in a clean, dry location.
  • Before using the system again, charge the pump if necessary.
  • Turn the pump on and reconnect it to Wi-Fi if needed.
  • Perform a manual watering test before restoring regular watering schedules.

General Care Tips

Keep the inlet filter clean

A clogged filter can reduce water flow and may prevent watering schedules from operating as expected.

Use clean cold water only

The HTP159W is designed for clean cold water.

Check the reservoir water level regularly

Make sure the inlet filter remains submerged.

A flashing red Low Water Alert Indicator means low water has been detected.

Keep tubing connections secure

Make sure the tubing is fully inserted into the IN and OUT ports.

Maintain correct pump placement

Do not position the pump below the reservoir water level.

Keep the installation height within the recommended range

The applicable height difference should not exceed: 6.6 ft (2 m)

Release trapped air after tubing changes

After reconnecting tubing, allow water to flow from the tubing end before installing the end plug.

Keep the charging port clean and dry

Check the USB-C port before charging.

Use the specified charging adapter

Use a DC 5V / 1A adapter.

Maintain stable Wi-Fi coverage

If the device frequently goes offline, check the distance and interference between the HTP159W and Wi-Fi router.

Review Rain Delay when schedules appear delayed

If a plan does not run at the expected time, check whether Rain Delay is enabled.
