RAINPOINT HTV107B + HWG009WB | 1-Zone - Common Issues & Fixes

This article covers common connection, watering, and operation issues with the HTV107B Water Timer and HWG009WB Wi-Fi Gateway. Follow the troubleshooting steps below to identify and resolve common problems.

Situation 1: The Gateway Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi

Possible causes:

  • The Wi-Fi network is unstable.
  • The router is not providing a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
  • The Wi-Fi password is incorrect.
  • The Gateway is too far from the router.
  • The Gateway is not in pairing mode.

What to do:

  1. Confirm that the router is working properly.
  2. Connect the Gateway to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
  3. Verify that the correct Wi-Fi password has been entered.
  4. Move the Gateway and smartphone closer to the router during setup.
  5. Confirm that the Gateway is powered on and in pairing mode.
  6. Follow the connection instructions in the RainPoint Home APP again.

If the connection still fails, restart the router and Gateway, then repeat the setup process.

Situation 2: The Timer Cannot Connect to the Gateway or APP

Possible causes:

  • The Gateway is offline.
  • The timer is too far from the Gateway.
  • The timer is not in pairing mode.
  • The timer and Gateway have not been paired successfully.
  • The timer batteries are low.

What to do:

  1. Confirm that the HWG009WB Gateway is online in the RainPoint Home APP.
  2. Move the timer closer to the Gateway during pairing.
  3. Check the timer batteries and replace them if necessary.
  4. Put the timer into pairing mode according to the user manual.
  5. Add the timer under the connected Gateway in the RainPoint Home APP.
  6. If pairing fails, remove the unsuccessful device entry from the APP and repeat the pairing process.

The Gateway must be connected successfully before the timer is added.

Situation 3: The Gateway or Timer Appears Offline in the APP

Possible causes:

  • The Wi-Fi network is temporarily unavailable.
  • The Gateway has lost power.
  • The Wi-Fi signal is weak.
  • Communication between the timer and Gateway is interrupted.
  • The timer batteries are low.

What to do:

  1. Check whether the router has an active internet connection.
  2. Confirm that the Gateway is powered on.
  3. Move the Gateway closer to the router if the Wi-Fi signal is weak.
  4. Check the timer batteries and replace them if necessary.
  5. Reduce the distance between the timer and Gateway.
  6. Refresh the RainPoint Home APP and check the device status again.
  7. If the Gateway remains offline, reconnect it according to the user manual.

Walls and other obstacles may reduce wireless communication reliability.

Situation 4: The Timer Does Not Water as Scheduled

Possible causes:

  • The watering schedule is disabled or configured incorrectly.
  • Rain Delay is active.
  • The timer batteries are low.
  • The water supply is turned off.
  • The inlet filter is blocked.

What to do:

  • Confirm that the faucet is fully open.
  • Check that the watering schedule is enabled in the RainPoint Home APP.
  • Verify the scheduled start time, watering duration, and watering days.
  • Check whether Rain Delay is active.
  • Replace the timer batteries if the battery level is low.
  • Inspect and clean the inlet filter if necessary.
  • Run a short manual watering test to check whether the valve opens normally.

If manual watering works but scheduled watering does not, check the watering schedule settings again.

Situation 5: The Timer Cannot Start Watering

Possible causes:

  • The faucet is closed.
  • The timer batteries are low.
  • The inlet filter is blocked.
  • The valve is temporarily unresponsive.
  • The APP command is delayed by an unstable connection.

What to do:

  1. Confirm that the faucet is open and the water supply is available.
  2. Check the timer batteries and replace them if necessary.
  3. Inspect the inlet filter and remove any debris.
  4. Confirm that the Gateway and timer are online.
  5. Wait briefly and try starting watering again.
  6. Test manual watering using the timer's physical control.

If the valve does not respond to either APP control or physical control after troubleshooting, contact RainPoint Customer Support.

Situation 6: Water Continues Flowing After Watering Should Have Stopped

Possible causes:

The valve has not closed properly.

Debris may be interfering with the valve.

The timer is temporarily unresponsive.

What to do:

  1. Turn off the faucet immediately to stop the water supply.
  2. Check whether the watering program has ended.
  3. Inspect the inlet filter for dirt or debris and clean it if necessary.
  4. Restore the water supply and perform a short watering test.
  5. Check whether the valve opens and closes normally.

If the valve cannot close properly, turn off the faucet and contact RainPoint Customer Support.

Do not leave the timer connected to an open water supply while the issue remains unresolved.

Situation 7: Water Leaks from the Connection

Possible causes:

  • The connection is loose.
  • The timer is not properly aligned with the faucet.
  • The inlet washer is missing, damaged, or incorrectly positioned.
  • The faucet threads are damaged or incompatible.

What to do:

  1. Turn off the faucet.
  2. Disconnect the timer and inspect the inlet connection.
  3. Check that the washer is present and correctly positioned.
  4. Align the timer with the faucet and reconnect it.
  5. Tighten the connection by hand without overtightening.
  6. Turn on the faucet slowly and check for leaks.

Do not use tools or excessive force to tighten the connection.

If leakage continues, inspect the faucet threads and contact RainPoint Customer Support if necessary.

Situation 8: The Timer Does Not Respond

Possible causes:

  • The batteries are depleted.
  • The batteries are installed incorrectly.
  • The battery contacts are not making proper contact.
  • The timer has temporarily stopped responding.
  • Moisture may have entered the battery compartment.

What to do:

  1. Turn off the faucet before inspecting the timer.
  2. Open the battery compartment and check the battery polarity.
  3. Replace the batteries with new batteries of the type specified in the user manual.
  4. Check that the battery compartment is clean and dry.
  5. Reinstall the batteries and check whether the timer responds.
  6. Reconnect the timer to the Gateway if the connection has been lost.

If the timer remains unresponsive, contact RainPoint Customer Support.
