RAINPOINT HL1202 – Common Issues & Fixes

If the HL1202 does not water as expected, the following checks cover the most common installation and operating conditions.

Water Flow Is Weak

Possible Causes

• Water pressure is below 40 psi.
• The hose is kinked or sharply bent.
• The hose has not been fully unrolled.
• An internal blockage is restricting the flow.
• The layout runs uphill.
• The continuous soaker-hose length exceeds 100 ft.
• A six-hole pressure-relief gasket is installed between two connected soaker hoses.

What to Do

• Adjust the water pressure to 40–60 psi.
• Unroll the hose and lay it flat.
• Remove kinks and sharp bends.
• Check the hose for restricted or blocked sections.
• Use a standard garden hose to cross uphill areas.
• Keep the continuous soaker-hose length within 100 ft.
• Use a flat rubber washer, not the pressure-relief gasket, between two soaker hoses.

Water Sprays Strongly from the Hose Openings

Possible Cause

The water pressure is too high.

What to Do

Reduce the pressure until it is within: 40–60 psi

The HL1202 is designed to release water gradually. Excessive pressure may cause water to spray instead of seep.

Water Does Not Reach the End of the Hose

What to Check

• Make sure the hose is fully unrolled.
• Make sure the hose is lying flat.
• Check for kinks.
• Check for internal restrictions.
• Confirm the hose is not running directly uphill.
• Confirm the continuous length does not exceed 100 ft.
• Allow sufficient time for the hose to fill after the water is turned on.

Water Leaks at the Faucet Connection

What to Check

• Confirm the connection is securely tightened.
• Make sure the six-hole pressure-relief gasket is installed.
• Confirm that the grooved side of the gasket faces outward.
• Make sure the gasket is seated evenly inside the female connector.

Water Leaks Between Two Soaker Hoses

Possible Cause

The wrong gasket is installed at the joint.

What to Do

1. Disconnect the two hose sections.
2. Remove the six-hole pressure-relief gasket from the joint.
3. Install a 3/4-inch flat rubber washer.
4. Reconnect and tighten the hoses.

The pressure-relief gasket should remain at the main water-source connection.

Water Leaks from the End Cap

What to Check

• Make sure the end cap is fully tightened.
• Confirm that a 3/4-inch flat rubber washer is installed inside the end-cap connection.
• Reinstall the washer evenly if necessary.

Watering Is Uneven

Possible Causes

• The hose is installed on a slope.
• Some sections are kinked.
• Water pressure is outside the recommended range.
• The layout is too long.
• Part of the hose is covered with soil.

What to Do

• Keep the soaker hose on a level surface where possible.
• Remove kinks.
• Maintain 40–60 psi.
• Keep the continuous length within 100 ft.
• Keep the hose exposed on the soil surface.
• Use a standard garden hose to connect separate planting levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the HL1202 be buried under soil?

No.

The manual instructs users to keep the soaker hose on the soil surface. Covering it with soil may block the watering openings.

Can two HL1202 hoses be connected?

Yes.

Use a 3/4-inch flat rubber washer between the two hoses. Do not use the six-hole pressure-relief gasket at the hose-to-hose joint.

Where should the pressure-relief gasket be installed?

Install it inside the female connector closest to the main water source, with the grooved side facing outward.

What is the recommended water pressure?

40–60 psi

Can the hose run uphill?

The soaker hose should remain level where possible.

Use a standard garden hose and compatible fittings to cross an uphill section, then connect another soaker-hose section on the next level area.

Can the HL1202 be connected to a watering timer?

Yes, provided that the timer and connections are compatible and the operating pressure supplied to the hose remains within 40–60 psi.
