RAINPOINT HL1202 – Installation & Use

This article explains how to install and use the RAINPOINT HL1202 Garden Soaker Hose, including the correct use of the pressure-relief gasket and flat rubber washers.

Before Installation

Before connecting the hose:

1. Unroll the soaker hose completely.
2. Lay it flat on the soil surface.
3. Check that the hose is not twisted, kinked, or blocked.
4. Make sure the end cap is securely tightened.
5. Confirm that the six-hole pressure-relief gasket is correctly installed at the water-source connection.

Basic Installation

Step 1: Connect the Water Source

Connect the female inlet connector of the soaker hose to the faucet, garden hose, or compatible watering timer.

Hand-tighten the connection securely.

Step 2: Position the Hose

Lay the soaker hose near the roots of the plants.

Arrange it in smooth curves without sharp bends or kinks.

Keep the hose on the soil surface. Do not cover it with soil, as soil may block the watering openings.

Step 3: Install the End Cap

Install the end cap on the opposite end of the soaker hose.

Make sure a 3/4-inch flat rubber washer is installed inside the end-cap connection to help prevent leakage.

Step 4: Turn On the Water

Turn on the water gradually and allow the hose to fill.

Adjust the water pressure to: 40–60 psi

Check the full hose length to confirm that water is being released normally.

Correct Use of the Six-Hole Pressure-Relief Gasket

The six-hole pressure-relief gasket should be installed inside the female connector nearest the water source.

When installing it:

• Position the grooved side facing outward.
• Make sure it is seated evenly inside the connector.
• Keep it at the water-source connection during normal single-hose use.

The gasket helps reduce incoming pressure and filter impurities.

Connecting Two Soaker Hoses

When connecting one soaker hose directly to another:

1. Remove the six-hole pressure-relief gasket from the connection between the two hoses.
2. Install a 3/4-inch flat rubber washer instead.
3. Tighten the connection securely.
4. Keep the pressure-relief gasket only at the main water-source connection.

Using a pressure-relief gasket between two hose sections may reduce the downstream pressure too much.

Layout Requirements

Keep the Hose Level

For more consistent watering, keep the soaker hose on a reasonably level surface.

Avoid Uphill Soaker-Hose Sections

Do not run a long section of soaker hose directly uphill.

When the watering route must cross an uphill area:

1. Use a standard garden hose to cross the elevation change.
2. Use compatible fittings to connect the garden hose to the next soaker-hose section.
3. Resume the soaker hose on the next level planting area.

Avoid Kinks

Do not fold, twist, or sharply bend the hose.

A kink may restrict the water supply to the remaining hose.

First-Use Check

After installation:

1. Turn on the water slowly.
2. Allow the full hose to fill.
3. Check the inlet connection.
4. Check any hose-to-hose connections.
5. Check the end cap.
6. Confirm that water is distributed along the entire hose.
7. Adjust the pressure within the 40–60 psi range if necessary.
