If the ITV220 water timer does not operate as expected during setup or regular use, the troubleshooting information below can help identify possible causes and recommended solutions.
Situation 1: Water leaks from the inlet or outlet connections
Possible causes
- The inlet filter is missing or not positioned correctly
- The faucet or hose connection is loose
- The threads are misaligned during installation
- A connection is not properly sealed
What to do
- Make sure the inlet filter is installed correctly and sits horizontally
- Remove the timer or hose, realign the threads, and reconnect carefully
- Tighten all connections by hand only
- Do not use tools or overtighten the connections, especially on versions with plastic outlets
The ITV220 manual specifically recommends proper thread alignment and horizontal filter placement to help prevent leakage.
Situation 2: One or both valves do not open or close
Possible causes
- The valves may be inactive after storage or transportation
- Dirt or debris may be blocking a valve or the internal water passage
- The timer may need to be reactivated after a period of inactivity
What to do
- Keep the faucet turned off during the initial activation
- Enter Manual Watering and activate Zone 1 and Zone 2
- Open and close the valves several times
- Repeat the activation process 3–5 times if necessary
- Turn the faucet on slightly and test both outlets again
- Clean the inlet filter and internal water passage if blockage is suspected
The manual specifically requires both Zone 1 and Zone 2 valves to be activated before first use or after a period of inactivity.
Situation 3: One zone does not water according to schedule
Possible causes
- The wrong zone was selected during programming
- The START TIME or HOW LONG setting for that zone is incorrect
- The required watering day is not selected for that zone
- The zone is set to OFF
- Rain Delay is currently active
What to do
- Select the affected zone and check its programmed settings
- Confirm the START TIME and HOW LONG settings
- Make sure the correct watering days are selected
- Check that the affected zone is set to ON
- Check whether Rain Delay is active and cancel it if necessary
Zone 1 and Zone 2 can have their own start time, duration, watering days, and ON/OFF status, so the settings for the affected zone should be checked separately.
Situation 4: Rain Delay does not work as expected
Possible causes
- The selected Rain Delay duration was not saved
- The timer returned to the main screen before the setting was confirmed
- Rain Delay is set to 00H
What to do
- Press DELAY to enter the Rain Delay setting
- Select 24H, 48H, or 72H
- Press the OK button to save the setting
- Check that the Rain Delay symbol appears on the display
- Select 00H when Rain Delay needs to be canceled
If the setting is not confirmed with the OK button, it is automatically canceled after about 8 seconds.
Situation 5: The LCD screen is blank or does not display properly
Possible causes
- The batteries are depleted
- The batteries are installed incorrectly
- The LCD is exposed to direct sunlight
What to do
- Replace the batteries with 2 new AA alkaline batteries
- Check that the batteries are installed with the correct polarity
- Do not mix old and new batteries or use carbon-zinc or rechargeable batteries
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight
- Check whether the battery indicator shows low power
These causes and solutions are specifically listed in the ITV220 troubleshooting section.
Situation 6: Water flow or pressure is lower than expected
Possible causes
- The inlet filter is clogged with dirt or debris
- The internal water passage is blocked
- The available inlet water pressure is insufficient
- The connected watering system is restricting water flow
What to do
- Remove and clean the inlet filter
- Check the internal water passage for blockage
- Check the faucet and hose connections
- Test each zone separately with a simpler watering setup
- Confirm that the inlet pressure is within the specified operating range
The ITV220 is designed for a working pressure of 7–116 psi (0.5–8 bar). The manual also recommends cleaning the filter and checking the internal water passage when dirt accumulates in the timer.
