Regular care helps maintain reliable operation of the RAINPOINT ITV220 2-Zone Digital Water Timer and may help extend its service life.
Cleaning the Inlet Filter
The inlet filter helps keep dirt and debris from entering the timer, reducing the risk of blockages and restricted water flow.
How to clean the filter:
- Turn off the garden faucet and disconnect the timer.
- Remove the filter from the water inlet.
- Rinse the filter thoroughly under clean running water.
- Reinstall the filter horizontally and make sure it is properly seated before reconnecting the timer.
Maintenance tip:
Inspect and clean the filter regularly. Replace it if it becomes worn or damaged, especially when reduced water flow or visible debris is noticed.
Winter Storage
The ITV220 is not designed for use in freezing conditions.
- Remove the timer when temperatures fall below 37.4°F (3°C).
- Drain any remaining water from the timer.
- Store the timer indoors to help prevent freeze damage.
- Keep the timer dry during storage.
Exposure to freezing temperatures may damage the internal components. The specified operating temperature range is 37.4°F–122°F (3°C–50°C).
Long-Term Storage
If the timer will not be used for an extended period:
- Remove the batteries before storage.
- Drain any remaining water from the timer.
- Store the timer indoors in a dry environment.
- Before using the timer again, install 2 new AA alkaline batteries and make sure the battery compartment is securely closed.
After a long period of inactivity, activate the timer before normal use. Use Manual Watering to open and close the valves several times and confirm that both Zone 1 and Zone 2 operate properly.
General Care Tips
To help maintain proper operation:
- Tighten all connections by hand only and do not use tools.
- Avoid overtightening the inlet and outlet connections.
- Use clean, cold water only.
- Keep the inlet filter clean and properly installed.
- Replace the batteries when the low-battery indicator appears.
- Make sure the battery compartment is dry when replacing batteries.
- Install the timer in a sheltered outdoor location when possible to help extend its service life.
- Do not immerse the timer in water or expose it to extreme force or impact.
- If water flow becomes restricted after cleaning the filter, check the internal water passage for blockage and clean it gently if necessary.
