If the ITV152 water timer is not operating as expected during installation or regular use, the troubleshooting information below can help identify possible causes and recommended solutions.
Situation 1: Water leaks from the inlet connection
Possible causes
- The inlet filter is missing or not positioned horizontally
- The faucet is not compatible with the timer inlet
- The threads are misaligned or the connection is not properly sealed
What to do
- Check that the inlet filter is installed correctly and sits horizontally
- Make sure the faucet is compatible with the timer inlet
- Remove the timer, realign the threads, and reinstall it carefully
- Apply Teflon tape to the faucet threads if needed
- Tighten the connection by hand only and do not use tools
The manual specifically notes that proper filter placement and thread alignment help prevent leakage.
Situation 2: The valve does not open or close properly
Possible causes
- The valve may be inactive after a long period of storage
- Dirt or debris may be blocking the valve
- The timer may not have been activated before use
What to do
- Use Manual Watering to open the valve
- Allow water to run for about 5–7 seconds, then stop watering
- Repeat the manual watering process several times
- Check and clean the inlet filter if necessary
- Test the timer again to confirm that the valve opens and closes normally
The ITV152 manual recommends repeating Manual Watering about 5 times if the valve cannot open or close normally.
Situation 3: Automatic watering does not start as expected
Possible causes
- HOW OFTEN or HOW LONG is set to an incorrect position
- The HOW LONG dial is set to OFF
- The dial was moved before the setting was confirmed
- he expected watering start time does not match the timer's scheduling logic
What to do
- Set HOW OFTEN to the required watering frequency
- Set HOW LONG to the required watering duration
- Wait for the green indicator to finish flashing and confirm the setting
- Make sure HOW LONG is not set to OFF
- Set the watering duration at the time the first watering cycle is intended to begin
When HOW LONG is set to OFF, the valve remains closed and a watering schedule cannot be set successfully.
Situation 4: Watering starts immediately after programming
Possible causes
- Battery power is too low
- One of the dials is being adjusted during manual watering
- The valve is not responding normally
What to do
- Short press the Manual Watering button to open the valve
- Short press the button again to stop watering
- Do not adjust the HOW OFTEN or HOW LONG dial during manual watering
- Replace the batteries if the red low-battery indicator appears
- If the valve still does not respond, follow the valve activation steps in Situation 2
Turning either dial during Manual Watering immediately closes the valve and applies the updated settings after a few seconds.
Situation 5: The timer does not respond or the indicator light stays red
Possible causes
- Battery power is too low
- Old and new batteries are mixed
- Carbon-zinc or rechargeable batteries are being used
What to do
- Replace the batteries with 2 new AAA alkaline batteries
- Do not mix old and new batteries
- Do not use carbon-zinc or rechargeable batteries
- Make sure the batteries are installed correctly and the battery compartment is fully sealed
When battery power is low, the red indicator stays on briefly and the valve will not respond or save a watering plan. If the battery becomes low during watering, the valve closes automatically.
Situation 6: Water pressure or flow is lower than expected
Possible causes
- The inlet filter is clogged
- The inlet water pressure is insufficient
- The timer is not installed correctly or the connection is cross-threaded
What to do
- Check and clean the inlet filter
- Reinstall the timer and make sure the threads are aligned correctly
- Confirm that the inlet water pressure is within the specified operating range
- Check whether the water supply provides sufficient pressure for the watering setup
The ITV152 operating water pressure range is 7.25–116 psi (0.5–8 bar).
