If the model number on your product is HCS026FRF, you are in the correct place.
The HCS026FRF monitors soil moisture and works as a sub-device with a compatible RAINPOINT Gateway. A HWG023WBRF or HWG040WLBRF Gateway is required and sold separately for connection to the RainPoint Home app.
What is the HCS026FRF?
The RAINPOINT HCS026FRF is a smart soil moisture sensor designed to help monitor moisture conditions around plants.
The sensor supports both automatic and manual soil-moisture measurements:
- Automatic Detection: Measures soil moisture approximately every 3 minutes after installation.
- Manual Detection: Short press the button to take an immediate measurement.
The current soil-moisture value can be viewed directly on the sensor's LCD display and through the RainPoint Home app after the sensor has been connected to a compatible Gateway.

Before You Start
1. Prepare a compatible Gateway
The HCS026FRF requires one of the following:
- HWG023WBRF Gateway
- HWG040WLBRF Gateway
The Gateway is sold separately.
Make sure the Gateway has already been successfully added to the RainPoint Home app before adding the HCS026FRF.
2. Download RainPoint Home
Search for: RainPoint Home
in the App Store or Google Play.
Register a new account or sign in using an existing account.
3. Open the Gateway page
After the Gateway is online:
- Open the Gateway in RainPoint Home.
- Tap Add Device.
- Select Add New Devices.
- Select HCS026FRF.
The sensor can also be added by scanning its QR code or entering the serial number.
4. Install the batteries
The HCS026FRF uses: 3 × AAA alkaline batteries
Batteries are not included.
Use a screwdriver to remove the rear battery cover.
Insert the batteries according to the + / – polarity markings, then reinstall the battery cover and tighten the screws.
5. Complete the pairing process
In the app, tap Next to begin automatic pairing.
Keep the HCS026FRF close to the Gateway during the initial connection.
Once pairing is complete, the HCS026FRF appears on the RainPoint Home device list.
6. Install the sensor correctly
The sensor body includes a BEST insertion mark.
Soft soil
Insert the sensor directly into the soil until it reaches the BEST position.
Hard soil
Dig a suitable hole first, place the sensor into the hole at the BEST position, and then backfill the soil.
Do not force the probe directly into hard soil.
7. Select the appropriate soil type
Open: Sensor → Settings → Soil Type
and select the soil type that most closely matches the growing area.
If no soil type is selected, the system uses P1 by default.
8. Check the first measurement
After installation:
- Read the current moisture value on the LCD, or
- Short press the sensor button to perform an immediate measurement.
