RAINPOINT TCS005FRF – Overview & Getting Started

The TCS005FRF monitors soil moisture and soil temperature and works with a compatible RAINPOINT Wi-Fi Water Timer to help manage watering based on actual soil conditions.

What is the TCS005FRF?

The RAINPOINT TCS005FRF is a wireless soil moisture and temperature sensor designed to work with compatible RAINPOINT irrigation timers.

Once paired with a compatible Water Timer, the sensor can:

• Measure current soil moisture
• Measure soil temperature
• Send soil data to the irrigation system
• Display sensor data in the Control Master App
• Allow a Stop Watering Soil Moisture Level to be set
• Help stop a watering plan when the selected soil moisture level is reached

The sensor communicates with the compatible Water Timer through 433.92 MHz FSK RF.

Before You Start

1. Confirm that you have a compatible Water Timer

The current TCS005FRF manual specifically describes connection with:

• TTV103WRF
• TTV203WRF

Connect the compatible Wi-Fi Water Timer to the app before pairing the soil sensor.

2. Install the batteries

The TCS005FRF uses: 3 × AAA 1.5V alkaline batteries

After installing the batteries, the green LED turns on briefly.

3. Open the Sensor page

After the compatible Water Timer is connected:

1. Open the Water Timer in the app.
2. Switch to the Sensor interface.
3. Tap the Soil Sensor icon.

Before pairing, the sensor control appears gray.

4. Put the TCS005FRF into pairing mode

After the initial green LED turns off:

1. Press and hold the sensor button for approximately 5 seconds.
2. Wait until the red LED turns on.
3. The sensor is now ready for connection.

5. Add the sensor

When the red LED is on, tap the Soil Sensor control in the app.

The app searches for and connects to the sensor automatically.

The manual states that connection takes approximately 10 seconds.

After connection:

• The Soil Sensor icon changes to green.
• Battery status can be viewed in the app.
• Soil data can be viewed from the Parameter interface.

6. Install the sensor in the soil

Insert the sensor probes into the soil where moisture measurement is required.

For reliable communication, keep the sensor and compatible Water Timer within:

100 m / 328 ft in an open area

Where possible, install the sensor as close to the Water Timer as practical.

7. Set the Stop Watering Soil Moisture Level

To wake the sensor settings:

1. Press and hold both buttons for approximately 5 seconds.
2. The LEDs display the current moisture setting.
3. Press the left button to select the desired Stop Watering Soil Moisture Level.
4. Press the right button to confirm the setting.

Available levels: 20% / 40% / 60% / 80% / 100%

Default: 60%
