If the ICS018 does not display or measure water flow as expected, the information below outlines common operating conditions and recommended actions.
These conditions are usually related to battery status, installation direction, water-flow settings, leakage, or debris rather than product defects.
Condition 1: The LCD screen does not display
Possible Cause
The CR2032 battery has run out of power or is not making proper contact.
What to Do
- Check the CR2032 battery.
- Confirm correct polarity.
- Replace the battery if necessary.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and check battery condition.
Condition 2: Measurement appears inaccurate
Possible Causes
- The flow meter is installed incorrectly.
- The selected flow direction does not match the actual water flow.
- Water leakage is present.
- Debris is blocking the device or filter.
What to Do
- Check the physical installation direction.
- Confirm A→B or A←B on the FLOW RATE page.
- Check all connections for leakage.
- Clean the filter and remove visible debris.
Condition 3: Water leaks from the connection
Possible Cause
The threaded connection is not tightened correctly.
What to Do
- Turn off the water.
- Check the connection alignment.
- Reconnect the fitting.
- Tighten the connection securely.
- Check for leakage before taking measurements.
Condition 4: Unit cannot be switched
Unit switching is available only on: FLOW RATE MODE
What to Do
- Switch to FLOW RATE.
- Press and hold the MENU button.
- Select GAL/Min or L/Min.
Condition 5: Flow direction is incorrect
Flow Direction Switching is available only on:
FLOW RATE MODE
Press and hold the Direction Button to switch between:
- A→B
- A←B
Make sure the setting matches the actual water-flow direction.
Condition 6: Screen appears upside down
On any page, briefly press the Direction Button.
The screen orientation will flip for easier viewing.
This does not change the measurement direction.
Condition 7: LAST value does not match the expected watering session
In LAST MODE, water-flow changes occurring within 30 seconds may be treated as part of the same record.
A new LAST record starts after the water has remained unchanged/off for more than 30 seconds.
Condition 8: The screen turns off automatically
This is normally the ICS018 Screen Energy Saving function.
If there is no flow-rate or water-consumption change and no button operation, the display turns off automatically to reduce battery use.
