This article provides routine filter, battery, connector, and storage guidance for the RAINPOINT ICS018 Screen-Flip Water Flow Meter.
Proper care can help maintain reliable measurement performance and reduce leakage or battery-related operating conditions.
Cleaning the Filter
The ICS018 package includes an inlet filter.
The troubleshooting section notes that debris may affect measurement accuracy.
If necessary:
- Turn off the water supply.
- Disconnect the flow meter.
- Remove and inspect the filter.
- Rinse visible debris away with clean water.
- Reinstall the filter correctly.
- Reconnect the flow meter.
- Check for leakage.
Battery Care
The ICS018 uses: 1 × CR2032 button cell battery
Replace the battery when the low-battery icon appears.
Battery Replacement
- Remove the retaining screw using a screwdriver.
- Insert the supplied Battery Cover Opener into the groove on the rear of the device.
- Rotate the opener counterclockwise.
- Remove the battery cover.
- Install the CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing upward.
- Reinstall the battery cover.
- Rotate clockwise until secure.
- Reinstall the retaining screw.
Button Battery Safety
The CR2032 battery must be kept out of reach of children.
The manual specifically warns that swallowing a button-cell battery may cause:
- Internal chemical burns
- Serious injury
- Death
Severe burns can occur within approximately 2 hours.
If a battery is suspected to have been swallowed or inserted into the body, seek immediate medical attention.
Connector Care
Check threaded connections periodically.
If leakage occurs:
- Turn off the water supply.
- Check alignment.
- Reconnect the fitting.
- Tighten securely.
- Do not force incompatible or misaligned threads.
The brass inlet should be kept clean and free from visible debris.
Winter Storage
The ICS018 manual does not provide a dedicated winter-storage procedure.
Its specified operating temperature starts at: 3°C (37.4°F)
For long-term or cold-weather non-use, it is recommended to:
- Disconnect the meter from the water line.
- Allow remaining water to drain.
- Dry the product.
- Store it in a protected indoor location.
This is a conservative maintenance recommendation based on the stated operating range, rather than a separate winterization procedure from the manual.
Long-Term Storage
If the ICS018 will not be used for an extended period:
- Remove it from the watering line.
- Drain remaining water.
- Clean the filter.
- Dry the exterior.
- Check the CR2032 battery.
- Store the meter and Battery Cover Opener together in a dry location.
- Before reuse, check the installation direction and connections.
