Regular maintenance helps keep the RAINPOINT ITV117 1-Zone Digital Water Timer working properly and can help extend its service life.
Cleaning the Inlet Filter
The inlet filter helps prevent dirt and debris from entering the timer and causing blockages or reduced water flow.
How to clean the filter:
- Turn off the garden faucet and remove the timer.
- Check the filter inside the water inlet for dirt or debris.
- Remove the filter and rinse it thoroughly under clean running water.
- Reinstall the filter correctly before reconnecting the timer.
Maintenance tip:
Clean the filter regularly and replace it if it becomes worn or damaged. If water flow becomes noticeably weaker, checking the filter should be one of the first maintenance steps.
Cleaning the Internal Water Passage
If water flow remains restricted after the inlet filter has been cleaned, check the timer's internal water passage.
- Remove the timer from the faucet.
- Use Manual Watering Mode to open the valve.
- Check whether the internal water passage is blocked.
- If necessary, gently clean the blockage with a small cleaning brush.
Avoid using excessive force that could damage internal components.
Winter Storage
The ITV117 should not be used in freezing conditions.
- Remove the timer when temperatures fall below 37.4°F (3°C).
- Store the timer indoors to help prevent freeze damage.
- Remove the batteries if the timer will not be used for an extended period.
- Keep the timer dry while in storage.
The specified operating temperature range for the ITV117 is 37.4°F–122°F (3°C–50°C).
Long-Term Storage
If the timer will not be used for an extended period:
- Remove the batteries before storage.
- Store the timer indoors in a dry location.
- Keep the timer away from extreme temperatures and conditions that could cause damage.
- Before using the timer again, install fresh batteries and activate the timer valve before normal operation.
After a period of inactivity, the valve activation process may need to be repeated several times to ensure that the valve opens and closes properly.
General Care Tips
To help maintain normal operation:
- Use clean, cold water only.
- Tighten the timer and hose connections by hand only; do not use tools.
- Keep the inlet filter clean and properly installed.
- Replace the batteries when the low-battery indicator appears.
- Make sure the battery compartment is dry and securely closed when replacing batteries.
- Avoid extreme force, impact, or immersing the timer in water.
- When possible, install the timer in a sheltered outdoor location to help extend its lifespan.
