RAINPOINT ITV117 | 1-Zone – Common Issues & Fixes

If you experience any issues while installing or using the timer, the sections below cover common problems and recommended troubleshooting steps.


Situation 1: Water leaks from the inlet connection

Possible causes

 • The inlet filter/washer is missing, incorrectly positioned, or not seated properly
 • The faucet is not compatible with the timer inlet
 • The threads are misaligned or the connection is not tight enough

What to do

  • Check that the filter/washer is installed correctly and sits flat inside the inlet
  • Make sure the timer is connected to a compatible faucet
  • Remove the timer, realign the threads, and reinstall it carefully
  • If necessary, apply Teflon (thread seal) tape to the faucet threads
  • Tighten the timer by hand only and do not use tools

The ITV117 is designed for 3/4" NH taps (US) or 3/4" / 1" BSP taps (EU), depending on the version. 


Situation 2: Water does not flow or will not stop

Possible causes

  • The valve may be inactive after storage or transportation
  • Dirt or debris may be blocking the valve or inlet filter
  • The timer valve was not activated before first use or after a long period of inactivity

What to do

  • Turn off the faucet and set the dial to ON
  • Enter Manual Watering Mode and run the valve for about 5–7 seconds, then stop it
  • Repeat this process 3–5 times
  • Check and clean the inlet filter if necessary
  • Turn the faucet on slightly and test again to confirm that the valve opens and closes normally

The manual recommends activating the valve before first use and after the timer has been inactive for a period of time. 


Situation 3: The timer does not water automatically

Possible causes

  • The dial is not set to ON
  • The current time, start time, watering duration, or frequency was not set correctly
  • A programming step was not saved properly
  • The scheduled start time for the current day has already passed

What to do

  • Check SET CLOCKSTART TIME HOW LONGHOW OFTEN
  • After each programming step, turn the dial clockwise to save the setting
  • Return the dial to ON after programming
  • Check the next watering time shown on the display

Automatic watering only runs when the dial is in the ON position. If the dial is returned to ON after that day's START TIME has already passed, the timer may skip that watering and resume according to the next scheduled cycle. 


Situation 4: Rain Delay does not start

Possible causes

  • The Rain Delay duration was selected but not confirmed
  • The timer exited the setting before the delay was activated

What to do

  • Turn the dial to ON
  • Press and hold DELAY for 3–5 seconds
  • Select 24H, 48H, or 72H
  • Press OK to activate Rain Delay
  • To cancel Rain Delay, press and hold DELAY again for 3–5 seconds

Selecting a delay time alone does not activate the function—you must press OK to start it.


Situation 5: Cycle & Soak is not working as expected

Possible causes

HOW LONG is set below the minimum duration required for the selected Cycle & Soak mode

Cycle & Soak is turned off 

The function is being tested during manual watering

The total irrigation process is longer than the available watering-frequency interval

What to do

  • Set HOW LONG to at least 6 minutes before selecting Cycle & Soak
  • Select the appropriate Cycle & Soak mode using the CYCLE & SOAK button
  • Check that a Cycle & Soak setting is displayed 
  • Test the function during scheduled watering, not Manual Watering
  • Make sure the complete irrigation cycle fits within the selected watering-frequency interval

Cycle & Soak applies to scheduled irrigation only and does not operate during Manual Watering.


Situation 6: The LCD screen is blank or the timer does not respond

Possible causes

  • The batteries are depleted or installed incorrectly
  • Old and new batteries, or different battery types, are being mixed
  • The display has been exposed to strong direct sunlight

What to do

  • Install 2 new AA (1.5V) alkaline batteries
  • Check that the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity
  • Do not mix old and new batteries or use rechargeable/carbon-zinc batteries
  • Make sure the battery compartment is fully inserted and sealed
  • Move the timer away from strong direct sunlight and check the display again

When the low-battery indicator appears, replace the batteries promptly. The timer will automatically close the valve when battery power is too low. 


Situation 7: Water flow or pressure is lower than expected

Possible causes

  • The inlet filter is clogged
  • The available water pressure is too low
  • The timer or hose connection is not installed correctly

What to do

  • Remove and clean the inlet filter
  • Check the timer and hose connections and make sure they are properly aligned
  • Test the timer with a simpler watering setup
  • Confirm that the inlet pressure is within the specified working range

The ITV117 is designed to operate at 7.25–116 psi (0.5–8 bar), with a maximum flow rate of 9.2 Gal/min (35 L/min)
