RAINPOINT IK159 – Common Issues & Fixes

If the IK159 does not operate as expected during installation or everyday use, the information below outlines common operating conditions and practical solutions.

These situations are usually related to watering settings, water supply, tubing connections, pump placement, or charging conditions rather than product defects.

Condition 1: Pump does not start or no water comes from the container

Possible Causes

  • HOW LONG is set to OFF.
  • A water shortage has been detected.
  • The inlet filter is clogged.
  • The inlet tubing is not properly connected.
  • The inlet filter is not fully submerged.
  • The battery may be depleted.

What to Do

  • Set HOW LONG to a watering duration other than OFF.
  • Refill the water container if necessary.
  • Make sure the inlet filter is fully submerged.
  • Remove and clean the inlet filter.
  • Reconnect the inlet tubing firmly.
  • Check the Power/Charging Indicator.
  • Charge the pump if the battery is low or depleted.

If the pump still does not operate after completing these checks, contact RAINPOINT Support.

Condition 2: Water leaks from the IN or OUT port

Possible Cause

The tubing is not fully inserted or firmly connected.

What to Do

  • Remove the tubing from the affected port.
  • Check the tubing end.
  • Cut the tubing end straight if necessary.
  • Push the tubing fully into the IN or OUT port.
  • Run a short watering test and check the connection again.

Condition 3: Water flow is weak

Possible Causes

  • The pump is too far from the plants.
  • The tubing is longer than necessary.
  • Air remains inside the tubing.
  • The installation height difference is too large.

What to Do

  • Move the pump closer to the plants where possible.
  • Shorten unnecessary tubing.
  • Allow water to flow from the tubing end for several seconds before installing the end plug.
  • Keep the height difference within 6.6 ft (2 m).
  • Check the inlet filter for debris.

Condition 4: The Water Shortage Indicator flashes red

A fast-flashing red Water Shortage Indicator means a water shortage has been detected.

What to Do

  • Check the water level in the reservoir.
  • Refill the container if necessary.
  • Make sure the inlet filter is fully submerged.
  • Check that the inlet tubing is firmly connected.
  • Make sure the inlet filter is not blocked.

Condition 5: Manual watering does not start

Possible Causes

  • HOW LONG is set to OFF.
  • The battery is depleted.
  • There is insufficient water at the inlet.

What to Do

  • Turn HOW LONG to a watering duration other than OFF.
  • Check the water level.
  • Check the battery status.
  • Short press the MANUAL button again.

Manual watering is available only when the pump is in a non-OFF mode.
