Why is my HTV405 leaking from the inlet, and how can I fix it?

The HTV405 with a brass inlet and four plastic outlets is designed to provide a secure, leak-resistant connection when installed correctly. If water is leaking from the inlet, the issue is most commonly related to thread sealing, installation method, water pressure, or damage to the inlet connection or internal seals.

How to Properly Install and Maintain the HTV405

Applicable for Brass Inlet & Plastic Outlets

• Seal the inlet connection

Apply Teflon® (PTFE) tape to the male threads of the water source before attaching the brass inlet. Wrap the tape clockwise several turns to ensure a proper seal. Tighten the brass inlet securely, but do not overtighten, as excessive force may damage internal seals.

• Install the outlets

Connect hoses or irrigation lines to the four plastic outlets. Ensure proper thread alignment and hand-tighten only. Do not use tools, as plastic fittings can crack or deform.

• Install new batteries

• Use new AA alkaline, non-rechargeable batteries only

• Use one battery brand and replace all batteries at the same time

• Do not mix old and new batteries or different brands

• Test the valve

Turn on the water slowly and run a manual watering cycle. Check the inlet connection carefully for leaks.
