Q: Why is my TTV103 leaking from the inlet, and how can I fix it?
A:
The TTV103 (1 Zone) with brass inlet and brass outlet is designed to provide a durable, leak-resistant connection when installed correctly. If water is leaking from the inlet, the issue is typically related to thread sealing, installation method, water pressure, or component condition.
How to Properly Install and Maintain the TTV103 (Brass Inlet & Brass Outlet)
1. Seal the Inlet Connection
Apply Teflon® (PTFE) tape to the male threads of the water supply before attaching the brass inlet. Wrap the tape clockwise 3–4 turns to ensure a proper seal. Tighten securely, but do not overtighten to avoid thread damage.
2. Install the Valve
Connect the brass outlet to the hose or irrigation line, ensuring the threads are aligned correctly and tightened firmly.
3. Install New Batteries
Insert new AA alkaline, non-rechargeable batteries.
Use batteries from one brand only, and replace all batteries at the same time. Do not mix old and new batteries or different brands.
4. Test the Valve
Turn on the water slowly and run a manual watering cycle to confirm proper operation and check carefully for leaks.
Why the TTV103 May Leak or Stop Working
No or insufficient Teflon tape on inlet threads
Cross-threading during installation
Overtightening that damages threads or internal seals
Worn or damaged internal seals
Use of rechargeable, mixed, or low-power batteries
Excessive water pressure
Freezing damage
Tips for Reliable Operation
Always use Teflon (PTFE) tape on inlet threads
Tighten firmly but avoid excessive force
Use new AA alkaline, non-rechargeable batteries only
Replace all batteries at the same time and use one brand
Keep water pressure within the recommended range
Drain and protect the valve during freezing conditions
