HWG040; RAINPOINT WiFi Irrigation Hub HWG040WLBRF for WiFi Sprinkler Timer Tips and Questions

Q: How do I connect a RAINPOINT WiFi Water Timer using a WiFi Hub (TWG004 / TWG004WRF) or an Ethernet Gateway (HWG040WLBRF) with a Type-C cable?

A:
RAINPOINT WiFi water timers can connect to the internet using either a WiFi Hub or an Ethernet Gateway. Both devices are powered using a Type-C cable and are controlled through the RAINPOINT HOME App. The Ethernet Gateway provides a more stable wired connection.

WiFi Hub Connection (TWG004 / TWG004WRF)

Steps to Connect:

Power On the Hub

Connect the hub to a power outlet using the included Type-C cable and power adapter. Wait until the indicator light turns on.

Download the RAINPOINT HOME App

Download and install the RAINPOINT HOME App from the App Store or Google Play.

Create or Log In to Your Account

Open the app and sign in with your email address, or create a new account if needed.

Enable Pairing Mode

Press and hold the reset or pairing button until the indicator light begins flashing, indicating the hub is ready to pair.

Connect to Wi-Fi

In the app, tap Add Device and follow the on-screen instructions.
⚠️ The WiFi Hub supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. 5-GHz networks are not supported.

Complete Setup

When the indicator light remains solid, the hub is connected and ready to use.

Ethernet Gateway Connection (HWG040WLBRF)

Steps to Connect:

Power On the Gateway

Connect the Ethernet Gateway to a power outlet using the included Type-C cable and power adapter.

Connect the Ethernet Cable

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the gateway directly to your router or modem.
✔ A wired Ethernet connection provides a more stable and reliable network.

Enable Pairing Mode

Press and hold the reset or pairing button until the indicator light starts flashing.

Add the Gateway in the App

Open the RAINPOINT HOME App, tap Add Device, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Complete Setup

When the indicator light stays solid, the gateway is online and ready to manage your water timer.

Example:

Think of the WiFi Hub as a wireless bridge and the Ethernet Gateway as a wired bridge. Both are powered through a Type-C connection and link your water timer to the internet, with Ethernet offering maximum stability.

Tip:

Place the hub or gateway close to your router during setup. If your Wi-Fi signal is unstable, the Ethernet Gateway is recommended for a more consistent connection.
