RAINPOINT TFG-25 – Common Issues, Care & Safety

This article covers common installation conditions, storage recommendations, and safety guidance for the RAINPOINT TFG-25 Fabric Garden Hose.

Condition 1: Water leaks from the tap connection

Possible Causes

  • The connection is not fully sealed.
  • The rubber washer is missing or incorrectly positioned.
  • The tap thread requires additional sealing.

What to Do

  • Turn off the water.
  • Disconnect the hose.
  • Check the rubber washer.
  • Wrap PTFE tape around the tap thread if necessary.
  • Reconnect the hose securely.
  • Turn the water on and check for leakage again.

Condition 2: Water flow is weak or restricted

Possible Causes

  • The hose is tangled.
  • The hose is folded.
  • A section of the hose is sharply bent.

What to Do

  1. Turn off the water.
  2. Fully unwind the hose.
  3. Straighten folded or tangled sections.
  4. Make sure the water path is unobstructed.
  5. Turn the water back on.

Condition 3: The hose becomes tangled while unwinding

Do not pull the hose directly from the rolled coil.

Instead, gently twist and unwind the hose gradually.

This helps the hose lay out more naturally.

Condition 4: The outer fabric becomes worn or damaged

Dragging the hose over hard or sharp surfaces may damage the outer layer.

What to Do

  • Pick up and carry the hose when moving it where practical.
  • Avoid sharp edges.
  • Avoid rough dragging surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the working water pressure?

The manual specifies: Less than 200 PSI

What is the hose inner diameter?

5/8"

What is the TFG-25 made of?

The hose uses:

  • TPE inner tube
  • Polyester outer layer
  • Plastic connectors

Is a spray nozzle included?

No.

The current 3-meter TFG-25 manual specifically states: Spray nozzle not included.

Can I connect a spray nozzle?

Yes.

The manual shows the hose being connected to a compatible spray nozzle.

What should I do if the tap connection leaks?

Use PTFE tape around the tap thread or add an appropriate rubber washer to improve the seal.

Why is the water flow reduced?

Check whether the hose is tangled, folded, or sharply bent.

Can I drag the hose across concrete or other rough surfaces?

The manual advises against dragging the hose across hard or sharp surfaces because this may damage the outer layer.

Is the TFG-25 safe for drinking water?

The manual states that the hose is drinking-water safe, but also warns that water inside any garden hose may become contaminated and may present health risks.

Therefore, use caution before consuming water that has remained in or passed through a garden hose.

Storage & Care

How to Store the Hose

Before storage:

  1. Turn off the water.
  2. Empty any remaining water from the hose.
  3. Straighten the hose.
  4. Coil it carefully without sharp folds.

The hose can be:

  • Hung on a wall using a suitable handle
  • Stored on a garden hose reel
  • Stored in a storage box
  • Stored in another suitable dry location

If a hose reel is used, make sure the hose remains straight rather than sharply folded to avoid restricting future water flow.

To Extend the Life of Your Hose

The manual recommends:

  • Do not store the hose in direct sunlight or extreme heat.
  • During freezing temperatures, store the hose indoors.
  • Empty remaining water before storage.
  • Avoid driving over the hose or placing heavy objects on it.
  • Keep the hose away from corrosive chemicals or substances.

Safety

Keep Away from Children and Pets

Store the hose where children and pets cannot become entangled.

Strangulation Hazard

Do not wrap the hose around the neck.

Do Not Disassemble the Hose

Do not attempt to disassemble the hose body.

Avoid Improper Use

Use the hose only for its intended garden-watering purpose.
