RAINPOINT ICS049 – Maintenance & Care

This article provides routine battery, connection, filter, freeze-protection, and storage guidance for the RAINPOINT ICS049 Screen-Flip Water Flow Meter.

Proper care helps maintain reliable measurement performance and reduce leakage or battery-related operating conditions.

Cleaning the Filter

The troubleshooting section notes that a filter blocked by debris may affect measurement accuracy.

If the meter readings appear abnormal:

  1. Turn off the water supply.
  2. Disconnect the meter if necessary.
  3. Check the filter for debris.
  4. Rinse visible debris away with clean water.
  5. Reinstall the components correctly.
  6. Check for leakage after reinstallation.

Battery Care

The ICS049 uses: 1 × CR2032 button cell battery

Replace the battery when the low-battery icon appears.

Battery Replacement

  1. Remove the retaining screw using a screwdriver.
  2. Insert the supplied Battery Cover Opening Tool into the rear groove.
  3. Rotate counterclockwise to remove the battery cover.
  4. Insert a CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing upward.
  5. Reinstall the battery cover.
  6. Rotate it clockwise until secure.
  7. Reinstall and tighten the retaining screw.

Button Battery Safety

The CR2032 is a button-cell battery and must be kept out of reach of children.

The manual specifically warns that swallowing a button battery can cause severe internal chemical burns and serious injury in as little as approximately 2 hours.

If a battery is suspected to have been swallowed or inserted into any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.

Winter Storage

The manual specifically states:

If temperatures may fall below 0°C, remove the flow meter and store it indoors.

Before storage:

  1. Disconnect the meter from the watering system.
  2. Allow remaining water to drain.
  3. Dry the product.
  4. Store it indoors in a dry location.

Long-Term Storage

If the ICS049 will not be used for an extended period:

  • Remove the meter from the water line.
  • Drain remaining water.
  • Clean visible debris from the filter.
  • Dry the device.
  • Check the battery condition.
  • Store the product in a dry indoor location.
  • Keep the Battery Cover Opening Tool with the product for future battery replacement.
