This article provides routine maintenance and care guidance for the RAINPOINT ITP138 Indoor/Outdoor Solar Watering Kit.
Regular inspection of the filter, tubing, solar panel, and battery status can help maintain reliable watering and charging performance.
Cleaning the Inlet Filter
The inlet filter helps prevent impurities from entering the pump.
Check the filter periodically, especially when the system is used continuously with an outdoor water container.
To clean the filter:
- Stop watering.
- Remove the filter from the water container.
- Rinse away visible dirt or debris with clean water.
- Check the inlet tubing for blockage.
- Reconnect the filter.
- Place it back into the water container.
- Run a manual watering test to confirm normal water flow.
Solar Panel Care
For reliable solar charging:
- Keep the solar panel surface unobstructed.
- Adjust the panel angle using the adjustable bolt when necessary.
- Check the Battery Indicator to confirm charging.
- Use USB-C charging if additional charging is required.
Battery Indicator:
- Solid green: Battery full
- Flashing green: Charging
- Flashing red: Low battery
Winter Storage
The specified operating temperature range is: 37°F–122°F (3°C–50°C)
If temperatures may fall below the operating range:
- Stop automatic watering.
- Remove the filter and tubing from the water container.
- Drain remaining water from the tubing.
- Clean and dry the filter.
- Store the device and irrigation accessories in a protected location within the recommended temperature range.
Long-Term Storage
If the ITP138 will not be used for an extended period:
- Remove the system from the water source.
- Drain residual water from the tubing.
- Clean the inlet filter.
- Check tubing and fittings for visible blockage or damage.
- Keep the USB-C charging port clean and dry.
- Store the device in a protected location.
- Before reuse, check the battery status.
- Perform a manual watering test before restoring automatic operation.
General Care Tips
Keep the filter clear
Debris may restrict water entering the pump.
Keep the tubing fully inserted
Loose tubing at the IN or OUT port may cause leakage.
Install the anti-siphon valve correctly
Always follow the marked water-flow direction.
Release air after changing the tubing
Allow water to flow from the pipe end before installing the end plug.
Maintain correct pump placement
Keep the pump at or above the water container level.
Avoid excessive vertical height
Plants should remain within 9.8 ft (3 m) vertically above the pump.
Check battery status regularly
A low battery prevents the watering plan from operating.
