RAINPOINT ITV256 | 2-Zone – Common Issues & Fixes

If the timer does not operate as expected during installation or regular use, the following information outlines common situations and possible solutions.

Situation 1: Water leaks from the faucet or timer connection

Possible causes
• The inlet filter/washer is missing, installed incorrectly, or not seated properly.
• Faucet threads are not compatible, or the connection was not aligned before tightening.
• The connection is loose or not sealed.
• The hose, fitting, or washer connected to Zone 1 or Zone 2 is loose or not seated properly.
• The faucet thread surface is worn or damaged.
What to do
• Turn off the faucet and remove the timer.
• Install the inlet filter/washer correctly and make sure it sits flat.
• Align the faucet threads before tightening.
• Reconnect the timer with the display facing upward.
• Tighten by hand only. Do not use tools.
• If leakage continues due to worn or damaged faucet threads, wrap PTFE tape clockwise around the faucet threads 2–3 turns, then reconnect the timer by hand.
• Check the hoses, fittings, and washers connected to Zone 1 and Zone 2, and reseat or replace them if needed.

Situation 2: The timer is difficult to attach to the faucet

Possible causes
• The faucet threads and timer inlet were not aligned before tightening.
• The timer was installed at an angle.
• The faucet thread size does not match the timer inlet.
• Excessive force was used during installation.
What to do
• Do not force the timer onto the faucet.
• Remove the timer and realign the threads.
• Reinstall slowly with the display facing upward.
• Tighten by hand only until secure.
• Do not use tools.
• If the timer still cannot be secured properly, take photos of the faucet and timer inlet, then contact customer support.

Situation 3: The valve does not open or close properly

Possible causes
• The timer was not activated before first use.
• The valve may be temporarily inactive after storage or transportation.
• Dirt or debris may be blocking the valve or water path.
• The inlet filter or outlet may be blocked.
• Battery power may be too low for normal valve operation.
What to do
• Shut off the faucet.
• Enter Manual Watering.
• Start Manual Watering for about 5–7 seconds, then stop.
• Repeat this process 3–5 times.
• Slightly open the faucet and test again to confirm that water starts and stops normally.
• Remove the timer and clean the inlet filter if needed.
• Replace with two new AA alkaline batteries if the valve still does not respond.

Situation 4: Zone 1 or Zone 2 does not water

Possible causes
• The affected zone was not selected or programmed.
• No watering days were selected for that zone.
• The faucet is not turned on.
• Rain Delay is active.
• The batteries are low.
• The hose or watering device connected to that zone is blocked.
• The inlet filter is clogged.
What to do
• Check whether the issue happens on Zone 1, Zone 2, or both zones.
• Recheck the schedule for the affected zone.
• Confirm the watering start time, watering duration, and watering days.
• Make sure at least one watering day is selected for that zone.
• Turn on the faucet after all settings are completed.
• Disable Rain Delay if it is active.
• Replace the batteries if the low-battery icon appears.
• Clean the inlet filter and check the hose or watering device connected to the affected zone.

Situation 5: The timer does not run the schedule

Possible causes
• The current time or day of the week is not set correctly.
• The schedule for Zone 1 or Zone 2 was not fully confirmed.
• All watering days were deselected for the selected zone.
• Rain Delay is enabled.
• Low battery power interrupted normal operation.
What to do
• Set the time format, current time, and day of the week first.
• Recheck the schedule for Zone 1 and/or Zone 2.
• Confirm the watering start time.
• Confirm the watering duration.
• Confirm the selected watering days.
• Make sure at least one watering day is selected for the zone.
• If no watering days are selected, the program is off.
• Replace with two new AA alkaline batteries if needed.

Situation 6: Manual Watering does not start

Possible causes
• Zone 1 or Zone 2 was not selected before starting Manual Watering.
• The manual watering duration was not selected.
• The manual watering setting was not confirmed.
• The faucet is turned off.
• The valve has not been activated before first use or after long storage.
• Battery power is too low.
What to do
• Press the Manual button to enter Manual Watering.
• Turn the knob to select Zone 1 or Zone 2.
• Select the manual watering duration.
• Confirm to start watering.
• Make sure the faucet is turned on.
• If the valve does not open, run Manual Watering for 5–7 seconds, then stop.
• Repeat the activation process 3–5 times if needed.
• Replace the batteries with two new AA alkaline batteries if the valve still does not respond.

Situation 7: The screen is blank or hard to read

Possible causes
• Batteries are depleted.
• Batteries were installed incorrectly.
• Old and new batteries were mixed.
• Different battery types were used together.
• Strong direct sunlight makes the LCD hard to read.
What to do
• Replace with two new AA alkaline batteries.
• Reinstall the batteries with the correct polarity.
• Do not mix old and new batteries.
• Do not mix alkaline batteries with carbon-zinc or rechargeable batteries.
• Make sure the battery compartment cover is fully sealed.
