This article explains how to install and operate the RAINPOINT DZ04 4-Way Hose Splitter and covers the main leakage and cold-weather guidance provided in the user manual.
Installation & Use
Step 1: Connect the Splitter to the Faucet
Align the inlet of the DZ04 with the faucet threads.
Gently screw the splitter onto the faucet until the threads are correctly engaged and the connection is secure.
· Important
Install by hand only. Do not use tools.
Using tools may overtighten the connection and damage the splitter or faucet threads.
Step 2: Connect the Garden Hoses
Connect up to four compatible garden hoses to the four DZ04 outlets.
For each hose:
- Align the hose connector with the outlet.
- Screw the hose onto the outlet gently.
- Hand-tighten until secure.
All four outlets are designed for: Standard 3/4" garden hoses
Unused outlets do not need to have a hose connected.
Step 3: Control the Water Flow
Turn on the faucet.
Use the four Valve Switches to control the outlets independently.
Each switch controls the water flow through its corresponding outlet.
Depending on the watering setup, users can:
- Open one outlet
- Open several selected outlets
- Open all four outlets
- Close an individual outlet while keeping the others operating
Condition 1: Water leaks between the faucet and splitter
Possible Cause
The splitter inlet and faucet threads may not be correctly aligned or securely connected.
What to Do
- Turn off the water supply.
- Disconnect the DZ04.
- Check the faucet and splitter threads.
- Align the threads carefully.
- Reconnect the splitter.
- Hand-tighten securely.
- Turn the water back on and check again.
Condition 2: Leakage continues after reconnecting
If the threads are correctly aligned but leakage remains:
- Turn off the water.
- Disconnect the DZ04.
- Wrap PTFE / Teflon tape around the faucet threads.
- Install a rubber washer inside the splitter inlet.
- Reconnect the splitter.
- Hand-tighten securely.
- Test the connection again.
This is the additional sealing method illustrated in the manual.
Condition 3: Water leaks from one of the hose outlets
What to Do
- Turn off the water.
- Disconnect the affected garden hose.
- Check the hose and outlet threads.
- Make sure they are correctly aligned.
- Check the sealing washer.
- Reconnect the hose.
- Hand-tighten securely.
Condition 4: Water does not come from one outlet
What to Check
Check the Valve Switch for that outlet.
Each outlet is independently controlled.
Move the corresponding Valve Switch to the open position.
Condition 5: Water flow from one outlet is lower than expected
Check whether the corresponding Valve Switch is fully open.
Because each valve controls its own outlet, a partially closed Valve Switch can reduce water flow on that line.
If several outlets are being used at the same time, the available water supply is also shared between the active outlets. The current manual does not specify guaranteed flow for each outlet when all four are open, so Zendesk should not promise equal flow under every installation condition.
