Why is my TTV203 leaking from the outlet, and how can I fix it?

A:

The TTV203 is designed to provide a secure, leak-resistant connection when installed correctly. If water is leaking from one or both outlets, the cause is usually related to thread sealing, installation method, water pressure, or component condition.

How to Properly Install and Maintain the TTV203

(Applicable for Brass or Plastic Inlets & Outlets)

Seal the outlet connections

Apply Teflon® (PTFE) tape to the male threads of the hoses or irrigation lines before attaching them to each outlet. Wrap the tape clockwise several turns to help prevent leaks. Hand-tighten only; do not use tools, as overtightening may damage the outlet threads.

Install the valve

Connect the inlet to the water source, ensuring proper thread alignment. Tighten securely but avoid excessive force.

Install new batteries

Use new AA alkaline, non-rechargeable batteries only.
Use one battery brand and replace all batteries at the same time.
Do not mix old and new batteries or different brands.

Test the valve

Turn on the water slowly and run a manual watering cycle for each outlet to confirm proper operation and check for leaks.

Why the TTV203 May Leak or Stop Working

• No or insufficient Teflon tape on outlet threads
• Cross-threading during installation
• Overtightening that cracks or deforms outlet threads
• Worn or damaged internal seals
• Use of rechargeable, mixed, or low-power batteries
• Excessive water pressure
• Freezing damage

Tips for Reliable Operation

• Always use Teflon (PTFE) tape on outlet threads
• Hand-tighten plastic fittings only (if applicable)
• Tighten brass fittings securely but avoid overtightening
• Use new AA alkaline, non-rechargeable batteries
• Keep water pressure within the recommended range
• Drain and protect the valve in freezing conditions
