RAINPOINT ITV156 | 1-Zone – Maintenance & Care

Regular maintenance helps keep your RAINPOINT ITV156 1-Zone Digital Water Timer operating properly and helps reduce issues caused by dirt, debris, low batteries, or freezing temperatures.

Cleaning the Inlet Filter and Outlet

The inlet filter helps prevent dirt and debris from entering the timer and affecting water flow. Clean the filter regularly, especially if your water source contains sediment or if the water flow becomes weaker.

How to clean:

  1. Turn off the faucet and remove the timer.
  2. Check the inlet filter for dirt or debris.
  3. If the filter is dirty, remove it and rinse it under clean running water.
  4. Reinstall the filter correctly before using the timer again.
  5. Enter Manual Watering to open the valve and check whether the timer outlet is blocked.
  6. If the outlet is blocked, clean it gently with a small cleaning brush.

Maintenance tip:

Replace the filter if it becomes worn or damaged.

Battery Care

The ITV156 uses 2 × AA alkaline batteries. To maintain stable operation:

  • Use two new AA alkaline batteries.
  • Do not mix new and used batteries.
  • Do not mix alkaline batteries with standard carbon-zinc or rechargeable batteries.
  • Replace the batteries when the low-battery icon appears.
  • Remove the batteries if the timer will not be used for an extended period.

Winter Storage

The ITV156 is not designed for freezing conditions.

  •  Do not use the timer when the temperature is below 37.4°F (3°C).
  • Remove the timer from the faucet if freezing temperatures are expected.
  • Store the timer indoors to help prevent freeze damage.
  • Make sure the timer is dry before storage.
  • Leaving the timer outdoors in freezing temperatures may cause internal damage.

Long-Term Storage

If the timer will not be used for an extended period:

  • Remove the timer from the faucet.
  • Remove the batteries.
  • Clean the inlet filter and timer outlet if needed.
  • Let the timer dry completely.
  • Store it in a dry, indoor location.

When reinstalling the timer after long-term storage, activation may be required before normal use.

To reactivate the valve:

  • Shut off the faucet.
  • Enter Manual Watering.
  • Run Manual Watering for about 5–7 seconds, then stop.
  • Repeat this process 3–5 times.
  • Slightly open the faucet and test whether water starts and stops normally.

General Care Tips

To help maintain proper operation:

  • Use clean, cold water only.
  • Keep the inlet filter installed and clean.
  • Hand-tighten connections only.
  • Do not use tools.
  • Avoid overtightening.
  • Make sure the battery compartment cover is fully sealed.
  • Store the timer indoors during freezing weather.
